Now, let’s dive into the standout selections of the night—our top winners!
1. Tonnino Pinot Grigio Ramato
This stunning Italian Pinot Grigio Ramato wowed the crowd with its delicate copper hue and layers of citrus, stone fruit, and a touch of floral elegance. With a crisp, refreshing finish and a hint of salinity, it paired beautifully with creamy cheeses and prosciutto from our charcuterie selection. It also pairs wonderfully with seafood dishes like shrimp scampi, grilled salmon, or a light pasta with lemon and capers or roasted vegetables and fresh salads. Tonnino Winery, located in Sicily, is known for its dedication to organic practices and vibrant expressions of classic Italian varietals.
2. Evodia Garnacha
Rich, juicy, and full of energy, Evodia Garnacha hails from the high-altitude vineyards of Aragón, Spain. Bursting with ripe red berries, hints of spice, and a touch of minerality, this wine was a crowd favorite for its smooth, easy-drinking nature. Perfect with grilled lamb, roasted chicken, or hearty vegetable dishes like ratatouille. The wine is also great with smoky barbecue and spiced dishes from the hint of spice in the wine. Evodia showcased the bold yet balanced character that makes Garnacha such a beloved varietal.
3. Uvas Malbec
Argentina’s Uvas Malbec delivered deep, dark fruit flavors, velvety tannins, and a luscious finish that left a lasting impression. Notes of blackberry, plum, and cocoa made it an exceptional pairing with aged cheeses, grilled steaks, mushroom risotto, or empanadas. It also goes well with dark chocolate or blue cheese! This Malbec represents the best of Mendoza winemaking, offering both structure and approachability.
4. Hill Estate Red Barrel Blend
A harmonious blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah, the Hill Estate Red Barrel Blend was an undeniable hit. With layers of black currant, mocha, and a touch of vanilla from oak aging, it delivered complexity and depth. This wine pairs exceptionally well with braised short ribs, beef bourguignon, or aged cheddar. It also pairs well with mushroom-based dishes to bring in more earthy flavors.
5. Kuleto Native Son Red Blend
Bold and expressive, the Kuleto Native Son Red Blend captivated tasters with its robust notes of dark cherry, baking spices, and hints of leather. Grown in Napa Valley’s rugged terrain, this wine showcased the power and elegance of a well-crafted California blend. Its bold profile made it a perfect match for the cured meats and sharp cheeses from Giest Charcuterie or a great match for rich dishes like duck confit, barbecued pork, or truffle-infused pasta.
